Encounter Africa Safaris Ltd is a dream project started by three graduates of Makerere University School of Tourism. The dream ( our story) stretches back to 2003 after our Internship training with Uganda Wildlife Authority and Uganda Museum respectively.
Tourism being a new industry by then, lacked professionalism on the side of Tour Operators. Many were not even willing to employ tourism graduates which culminated to poor service provision compared to countries like Kenya and Tanzania.
In order to change the picture of Uganda tour operators, we decided to start a tour and travel company based on professionalism and we provide credible travel advice you can trust. Since then, we have never looked back.
Even so, we are growing to embrace the idea of crafting sustainable trips to attract more travelers with a soul. A kind of trip where you immerse yourself in the local destination and leaving knowing you have contributed to putting a smile on another’s face.
As we position to become the most sustainable local handlers in the East African region, we continue to work towards improving our sustainability principles and building an (inter)national team to work with, now and in the future.

Since its inception, we at Encounter Africa Safaris have diligently arranged gorilla tracking tours for our clients and effectively responded to their specific interests and specialized needs on time.

Professional indigenous guides
Encounter Africa Safaris is an indigenous Tour operator and we are fully aware that a guide can make a good trip if he is well trained, professional, and conversant with the history, culture, flora, and fauna of a given destination. Our guides are some of the best in Uganda and Rwanda, trained by the Uganda Safari Guides Association, approved by the Uganda Wildlife Authority and Uganda Tourism Board to carry our guiding services in both countries. This is why we are different from those who will instead assign you a driver instead of a guide.
Membership and other Associations
Encounter African Safaris Ltd is a fully registered tour and travel company in Uganda and a member of the Association of Uganda Tour Operators (AUTO). This means that we can get you gorilla permits or chimp permits which sometimes can be very scarce.
