This 9 Day Kenya game safari will take you to several national parks and conservancies, that offer exceptional wildlife viewing and diverse landscapes. You will visit the Masai Mara for the “Big Five” and the Great Migration, Samburu for its Magnificent northern species, and Amboseli for stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro and Wildlife.
Sample 9-day Kenya safari itinerary
A typical 9-day itinerary combines different regions to provide a well-rounded safari experience.
- Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi and transfer to Amboseli National Park. You will be met at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport upon arrival and be driven to Amboseli National Park. You will have lunch and check in your hotel. You will have an evening game drive to give you your first look at the local wildlife.
- Day 2: Full day in Amboseli National Park. Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives, which offer excellent opportunities to photograph elephants with the backdrop of snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro.
- Day 3: Transfer from Amboseli to Lake Nakuru National Park. Depart Amboseli after breakfast and drive to Lake Nakuru. You will have an afternoon game drive to see black and white rhinos, as well as thousands of flamingos and other bird species.
- Day 4: Lake Nakuru to Samburu National Reserve. This morning, you will leave the Rift Valley behind and travel to the arid Samburu region. After an evening game drive, you will have dinner and overnight.
- Day 5: Full day Game drives. You will spend the day searching for the “Samburu Special Five”: the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, and gerenuk. This reserve is also home to big cats and large elephant herds.
- Day 6: Transfer to Samburu to Masai Mara. This morning, you will take you journey to the Last Park to this Package, the Magical Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya’s most famous wildlife destination, you will arrive in time for Lunch and later check in at the Hotel, you will later head out for an evening game drive.
- Day 7: Full day Game drives in Masai Mara. On your first full day in the Mara, you will explore the vast plains in search of lions, leopards, and cheetahs. From July to October, you may also witness the annual Great Migration., You can as well opt for Morning or afternoon game drives only
- Day 8: Another full day in Masai Mara. You will take another full day of game drives to see the animals again or see those you had missed out the previous day. You can choose to add an optional hot air balloon safari view of the landscape and wildlife from above. You can also visit a local Maasai village for a cultural experience.
- Day 9: Departure. After a final morning game drive and breakfast, you will depart back to Nairobi to catch your flight home, End of the 9 Day Kenya Safari.
